Visiting your local Farmer's Market is one of the best ways to buy fresh & healthy produce, save some money and support your community. Since starting this blog, I have become more aware of the ingredients I use and the importance of cooking with what's in season. So this weekend I plan on getting up early and hitting the Kitchener Farmer’s Market! I tend to plan my weekly menus and then shop for the ingredients that I need, but this time I’m going to switch it up. I plan on picking up some fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese and meat – then planning my weekly menu around the delicious items I grab.
Visiting the Farmer’s Market is always a treat for your senses! The smells are intoxicating, the samples are mouth watering and the local vendors that you have the opportunity to meet are heartwarming. I love the idea of speaking to the actual person who grew and harvested the food I’m purchasing – they are usually full of tips & tricks for cooking and storing the food.
I can’t wait to have a Saturday morning adventure at The Kitchener Farmer’s Market and bring you along for the ride. Check back to hear about my experience and my menu plans for all the fresh, delicious, local ingredients! Be sure to follow me on Twitter @emilycbeatty for live tweets, while I'm there!
